About Us

Dove Purified Water is a social enterprise initiative of the West Africa Tourism Peace and Economic Integration Organization (WATPECO), a regional NGO dedicated to peacebuilding, economic cooperation, cultural exchange, and sustainable development across West Africa.

We were established with a clear mission: to provide safe, clean, and affordable drinking water while empowering communities and sustaining development. Our work is guided by a deep commitment to improving public health, promoting environmental sustainability, and creating meaningful economic opportunities.

Our factory is more than just a production facility – it is a skills development hub where women and young people are equipped with practical knowledge in water conservation, business management, and green entrepreneurship.

By addressing the urgent challenges of unsafe water, environmental pollution, and climate change, Dove Purified Water represents a replicable and sustainable model for clean water production in Sierra Leone and beyond.

The Opportunity

This pilot responds to growing concerns over climate change-induced water scarcity, unregulated water production, and widespread environmental pollution. In urban areas like Freetown, more than 80% of households rely on plastic-sealed water, often without knowing the source or quality. The health risks posed by improperly purified water are significant, and this proposal seeks to address that gap.

Our Goal

Our primary goal is to expand access to clean, affordable, and eco-friendly drinking water while serving as a skills development hub for women and youth. By integrating training in climate resilience, water conservation, and green entrepreneurship, we seek to build resilient and economically empowered communities.

The central aim of this initiative is to:

> Provide safe, clean, and affordable drinking water to underserved communities.
>Support WATPECO’s institutional sustainability and logistical operations.
> Create economic opportunities for women and youth through employment and skill-building.
>Align with national water safety and sanitation standards through collaboration with relevant regulatory bodies.

Training and capacity building Component

As part of WATPECO’s grant pilot project, a comprehensive training component will be implemented across four selected communities within the Western Area of Freetown, two in the central district and two in the rural district. The goal of this component is to build capacity in climate resilience, water conservation, and public hygiene, while aligning with the strategic objectives of the Ministry of Water Resources and Sanitation.

Participants will receive intensive training in the following thematic areas:

Environmental Management

  • Reforestation urban greening
  • Ecosystem preservation strategies

Climate Change Awareness and Resilience

  • Understanding climate risks and impacts on local livelihoods
  • Adaptation and mitigation practices
  • Climate-smart technologies and innovations

Tourism and Agriculture

  • Sustainable eco-tourism practices
  • Climate-resilient agricultural techniques
  • Value chain development for agri-tourism

Local Entrepreneurship and Livelihoods

  • Small-scale business development
  • Green job opportunities
  • Financial literacy and cooperative formation
